Programming.a.baby - (Windows) Shortcut Keys for Text and Folders

By

Reasons not to use Shortcut Keys ?!

Case you didn't know, there are some Shortcut keys you can use within Windows Operating Systems, no matter what version of windows you are wearing.

Even if you already know about this, maybe you are not using it, and you do not imagine the time you are wasting with your mouse and keyboard.

OK, lets admit that you already know but you are only using some of it, the reason can be because the

  • Lack of practice
  • You love to much your beautiful Mouse
  • You can't find some place that explain you this in the easy way

OK, lets do it easy then, you can read and practice at same time.

Folders, Files and Text key shortcuts

Lets work with some Folders first, please follow the instructions:

Remember that each time you see "MS" it means your Microsoft Windows Logo Key located near the Alt Key

Test (1) - Rename Folders or Docs

  1. Click MS + E to open your Windows Explorer and select an Hard Disk or My Documents
  2. Create an empty folder inside and name it "AAA"
  3. Open "AAA" create a new Folder inside and Hit "Enter"
  4. Now Hit "F2" and you will note that Folder's name becomes editable
  5. Rename it to "BBB"

Test (2) Undo and re undo the action

  1. Hit "CTRL + Z" and note that the "BBB" folder's name is no more
  2. Now "CTRL + Y" and the folder's name is again "BBB"
  3. Hit "DEL" (delete key) and now it disappeared, you just delete the folder
  4. Now "CTRL + Z" and the folder just returned from the trash to it's original place

Test (3) Moving a Folder or File from a place to another

  1. Create another Folder and name it "CCC" and you will see it near the "BBB"
  2. Now open the "BBB" and inside of it create a notepad text document, name it "B1"
  3. Now you click "B1" and hit "CTRL + X", this will erase it temporarily
  4. Hit the key "Backspace" to navigate outside of the "BBB"
  5. Open the "CCC" and click "CTRL + C" to Paste "B1" into the new localization

You can also make this with Folders, moving them from a place to another, if you check inside "BBB" there is nothing inside now

Test (4) To Escape from an action

  1. Return to "CCC" and click once in "B1" and hit "CTRL + X" note that it's almost invisible, because the system is waiting for you to make an action with the file
  2. Now hit "ESC" (Escape key normally located at top left of your keyboard), note that you just Escape from the action and the Deleting or Moving will not continue, use this when you make errors trying to move the wrong folder or file

You can also work inside text documents with the Keys you just used, but in this case you will be moving, deleting, undo and re undo actions with text, not with folders and files.
